Case Study: LeadingAge PA website redesign

Client Profile

LeadingAge PA is a trade association representing Pennsylvania not-for-profit organizations that provide housing, healthcare and community services primarily to the elderly.

Founded in 1963, the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging – now LeadingAge PA – was established to provide education and a voice of advocacy for not-for-profit long term care providers.

Project Summary

LeadingAge PA was seeking a redesign of their website in order to maximize visual online presence, functionality and user experience (from both a member and content administration standpoint) within the framework of our current content management system (CMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.

To celebrate its 50 years anniversary LeadingAge PA partnered with Maxiom Technology to redesign and rebuild their web presence from the ground up.

The organization has not updated their old site for many years. The design and user experience was in dire need of  an overhaul and the site was extremely hard to maintain. Integration with the organization’s Association Management System missed also the mark.

The first step in the process of proposing a sound technology solution is to build or build on top of a base framework that would support the organization for an extended period of time. In this case, LeadingAge PA used Microsoft Dynamics CRM to manage its Membership. Maxiom Technology consulted with LeadingAge PA based on a comprehensive review of expected functionality, it was determined that DotNetNuke was going to be used as the CMS and foundation of the website.
DotNetNuke is an easy to use, yet very powerful and extensible content management system. Cloud hosting and performance execution contributed to a highly available, performant website.

The following is a summary of services performed broken down by phase:

Phase I:

  • User Experience Consulting and Architecture design
  • User Interface (UI) Design
  • CMS
    • Selection support and analysis
    • Skin Development for DotNetNuke

  • Microsoft CRM Integration
    • Membership

The results really speak for themselves. The new website now complements the mission and the vision of LeadongAge PA. With the implementation of the DotNetNuke CMS as its foundation, LeadingAge PA’s web team has the content flexibility to easily swap out content and control the overall messaging of the site. The website now supports a robust taxonomy that enables cross-linking and content promotion at lower level pages.

The LeadingAge PA Blog is powered by WordPress. Our design team crafted a theme and user experience such that the transitions between web platforms is  smooth and seamless.

The customized SEO measures we’ve implemented will secure an improved site ranking across multiple search engines. Search ranking will also benefit from the increased level of social media channels integration.

Finally, with the deep integration with the CRM and Association Management System, LeadingAge PA’s members have seamless and easy access to web features and information that they never had before.

The new site launched on June 11th, on time and on budget. The very next day, the new website received rave reviews from its partners and members..

All of us at Maxiom Technology are looking forward to witnessing LeadingAge PA’s success, and to be at their (technology) side along the way.
