We designed ReferralMD's brand identity and logo, and the UX and UI for a smart directory that helps doctors, nurses and medical professionals find the right referral for each patient, with the goal of a truly easy to use referral management system.

Brand identity, UX, and UI
We designed ReferralMD's new identity and the user experience of its smart directory, an internal tool that helps doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals find the right referral for a patient. The goal was a referral management system that is easy to use, so more patients get into the right care.
A modern, clean identity
The identity focused on two words, modern and clean, and one graphic element: a button. A custom font treatment and that design came together in a logo meant to last.
UX for thousands of providers
The directory had to handle thousands of medical professionals, each with a lot of information, that needed to be filtered, scanned quickly, and selected for referral, often while a patient waits. The UI makes records easy to identify, and a series of detailed filters gets doctors and nurses a list of referrals with a minimum of clicks.
Our designs covered the doctor profile, account management, and the dashboard.
What the design had to do on a clinical day
- Find the right provider fast. Filters for specialty, location, and availability narrow thousands of names to a short list.
- Scan, then choose. Each record puts the few facts that matter up front.
- Fewer clicks. Every extra step is a reason to fall back on a fax or a phone call.
- Trust the data. Provider details have to be current, or people stop relying on the directory.
When referrals get lost between a primary care provider and a specialist, patients wait longer, and health systems lose patients to other networks. The ease of making the referral is what the design is for.
