About NCSL
The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) serves state legislatures. Legislators and staff use it for research, information, and resources when they are writing policy.
What we did
We supported NCSL with professional services across the systems behind that website:
- Personify eBusiness development and consulting. Personify360 is the association platform for members and online business. eBusiness is the layer where that system meets the website: what a visitor can do, buy, or access online.
- DNN skinning. DNN Evoq, formerly DotNetNuke, is the .NET content management system. The skin is the design of the public site.
- DNN development. Custom modules on top of the CMS, for behavior the base product does not include.
- Software architecture consulting. How those pieces should fit together so the site and Personify stay coherent.
What the site is for
- Legislators and staff. The audience is people inside state legislatures, not a general consumer. Navigation has to respect how they look for a brief, a dataset, or a meeting.
- Research. NCSL's value is the research. The site has to make it findable and keep it current.
- One architecture. Personify holds the business record. DNN holds the pages. Architecture consulting is how those two stay aligned when either one changes.
